Haiti and the Dominican Republic's Long Road to Economic Growth Divergence

Under the guidance of Professor Kaitlyn Woltz, Joseph authored a paper arguing that differences in foreign state-led development have led to differences in institutional openness, arbitrary power of government, and security of political elites, leading to diverging economic paths taken by Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Joseph won the Carl Menger Essay Contest for his contribution to the Austrian School of Economic Thought.

With sponsorship from Claremont McKenna College and the Libby Family Fund, Joseph presented his research at the Southern Economic Association's 92nd Annual Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
